This sculptured thimble is a model the famous
3,300 year-old bust of Queen Nefertiti, currently on display in the Altes Museum
Berlin.
Nefertiti (c 1370 BC- c 1330 BC)
was the Great Royal Wife (chief consort) of the
Egyptian
Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Nefertiti was also known throughout
Egypt for her beauty. She was very proud of her long, swan like neck. Her name
roughly translates to "the beautiful (or perfect) one has
arrived".
