Thimbles have been in existence for around two thousand years. It is only in recent times that most have ceased to be working tools, and are now regarded as treasured collectable items.

Modern collectable thimbles are now considered as miniature works of art. Some thimbles have superb intricate detail and are produced in various materials including Fine Bone China, Porcelain, Silver, Pewter, and Crystal Glass.

It is hoped that by explaining some of the manufacturing processes, the reasons why these small items are so revered can be appreciated.
